Hitachi 42 Inch Plasma Television: The Ultimate TV

By David Stone

Hitachi plasma televisions are some of the best in the world because they offer great value for an extensive amount of features. They also offer great quality in the LCD market but plasma is the elite market for the best video quality.

Some of the key factors that make Hitachi plasmas great are apparent before the screen is even turned on. The screen is sleek and sheen. It follows some basic rules that are rarely followed in the flat screen market. The screen has a completely black surrounding that is important to contrast colors. A black border around the screen creates an absolute contrast for the color to appear more brilliant.

The border is also housed by glass to make it reflective. This also helps make the screen seem to stand out more. As you explore the controls, you notice that it will accept a USB connection on the side of the screen. This means that you can connect a digital camera or camcorder to view on the screen. On the back side you may notice one of the best arrays of digital connections available. First off, the TV has two HDMI connections. This is a standard now even though it is hard to find. There are too many digital connections today to have a television that accepts just one. For everything else, there are also 2 component inputs, 3 s-video inputs and 5 composite video inputs. If video is not enough, the sound is so superb that you may forget to turn on your stereo equipment. Treble has a very high range and the bass has great tight response. For feature hungry freaks, this television offers a motorized stand. Yes, from the remote control you can rotate the television clockwise or counterclockwise.

Video capabilities bring 1080i video with unbelievable clarity. This Hitachi plasma television is a top notch addition to any media room.

The Technology Called DLP

If you are at the stage in your life where you are planning of buying a home theater projector that you will connect to your HDTV tuner, then you had probably done some researches and reviews so that you will have the needed ideas making any decision. Then you will probably be aware also that there are actually two technologies competing and making their ways into your budget.

They are LCD and DLP projectors. Both of them are suitable to be used for home theaters, but the function and the results they produce definitely differ from each other. And if you are not an expert or if you don’t go and ask around, you might be in the danger of purchasing something that will not yield the results that you would like in the first place.

At the present times, Digital Light Processing or DLP technology has overcome and surpassed the drawbacks and limitations of the usual LCD technology that is used in projector lamps. The use of DLP technology came into the front when it replaced the poor and somewhat blurred quality image that is produced by LCD. Because of this recent technology, a sharper and clearer image of what you are watching for is obtained.

The projection system of DLP works based on a DLP chip. These actual chips are made up of several micro mirrors that are in turn made up of aluminum so that the purpose of reflecting light and forming clearer and brighter pictures. These micro mirrors are arranged so as they will look like a matrix and each mirror represents a pixel that is meant to refine the image quality that we see.

Another thing to note about DLP is that its projectors tend to be lighter and smaller, it has better contrast and unlike LCD, it does not suffer or have the same pixelation problems. Although there is one problem that has been reported by some users of DLP. It has something to do with the way it works, sometimes, at a given instance, the image one sees on the screen is blue, red, or green. And although these colors appear very fast and instant, some may not even notice them. But for those who do complain of eye-strain and headache.

One other essential advantage of the DLP tech is the Brilliant Color Technology. This is when the light generates white light that is directed toward the chip which in turn filters on its surface and separates the white light into a minimum of at least three other colors: blue, green, and red. In actuality, almost 16.7 million of colors are produced by just a single chip in the projector system of DLP.

Furthermore, DLP-based projectors also have a higher contrast ratio and efficiency in the use of light. Contrast ration is comparing the ration between the darkest black and the brightest white that any projector can produce. Ideally, a better contrast ratio will lead to a better black level, and eventually, a more true to life presentation of the darker scenes in most TV programs and videos.

But of course, like any other thing, this goodness of the DLP technology also has its share of drawback. Although it is offering better performance at a certainly lower average cost, some issues are also attached to it. And one of the most common of it is the lamp life which is actually based strictly on the usage. The estimated average life span of a DLP lamp is between 1000-2000 hours. This is due to the quality of the lamp which can actually and dramatically varies according to the brand that you will buy. So, obviously and expectedly, lower usage would definitely lead to a longer interval of replacement.

Pioneer Plasma HDTV: The Television of the New Millennium

By Fatimah Edris

From the simple boxed-type ones, today’s television sets have evolved into semi-slim, and finally into flat versions. This is what other companies refer to as Plasma TV. What’s more, while the TVs became slimmer; they also became better, as they now possess the High Definition feature (or HDTV).

Pioneer is one of the television brands that are trusted worldwide. This company ensures that its clients will acquire full viewing pleasure with their high-def plasma TVs. In fact, the Pioneer Plasma HDTV is one of the television sets that gizmo gadget freaks are raving about. What makes these kinds of TV so special? And do these TVs have any flaws, so to speak?

Pioneer has launched two types of Plasma TVs: the Elite PRO and the PDP.

The speakers of both televisions are located at the sides of the plasma display. Even if the speakers of these televisions look alike, their technological framework is different. The Pioneer PDP TV is made up of 2-way speakers and contains a woofer and twitter at the very center. Meanwhile, The Elite PRO has 3-way speakers and the woofer and twitter contains a split module. Due to this fact, the Elite PRO sound better than the PDP.

Both television sets possess superior picture quality. This is where the HD feature comes in. The scenes shown in both of these TVs are very well defined, and it’s like seeing the real thing happen right in front of your eyes. This feature is helpful especially if you are watching action-packed shows like sports games and suspense movies. The pictures are sharp enough that you’ll keep your eyes glued to the monitor.

When it comes to color management and filter, the Elite PRO has a slight advantage. You can adjust the color of the Elite PRO screen based on the type of environment where the TV is located. If the place is well-lit, then you can adjust the TV’s brightness so that it will automatically suit its surroundings. If you have a multimedia room and you have placed this type of Pioneer Plasma HDTV in a dark room like those in home theaters, you can adjust its brightness so it will not strain your eyes while watching. The glare will surely be absent with its astounding color filter feature that will allow you to achieve a sharp and bright image without hurting your eyes.

Pioneer offers a warranty to all of its TVs, whether they are still the bulky-boxed type or the high-tech flat ones. For the PDP, there is a one year warranty (but some stores offer two years warranty for PDP TVs) while the Elite PRO has at least 2 years of extended warranty.

But just like any other products, it also has its flaws. Most flat screen TVs can be easily damaged with slight pressure, unsuitable room temperature and improper handling. As some say, plasma TVs, once broken, becomes disposable gadgets so it is very important to take good care of any of the mentioned Pioneer Plasma HDTV models.
