They both promise lots of perks such as pay-per-view and other features, and each service provider declares they are the best buy for your money. But there really is no comparison – satellite TV service providers simply give you the best value for your money across the country.

    With Respect to the Quality of the Image, Plasma Technology is the Best TV

    It’s really hard to say what the best TV is these days. With plasma and LCD TVs coming out left and right, capable of HDTV and EDTV, its dizzying trying to keep up with the advances. Every company claims that they have the best TV, and I’m finding it pretty hard to tell the difference. Since I’m in the market for a new television, I’ve been looking into it, and here’s what I think so far.

    Plasma technology is in my opinion the most advanced technology on the market as of today. However, I’m not really sure plasma TVs are the best TVs. First of all, they are riddled with all sorts of technical issues from what I’ve been able to determine. Of course, the people who make them don’t really want you to know that, but from everything I’ve been reading and hearing, they have a maximum life expectancy of maybe 5 years tops. Sure, they are probably the best TVs out there when it comes to picture quality, but you have to weigh it against their still exuberant price tag, and low lifespan. They are pretty sweet though, and when I see one in a store I can’t help but drool just a little!

    LCD screen televisions are almost as good with respect to quality, in my opinion. Maybe not the best TVs available, but they may just be the best combination of luxury and affordability. Of course, they are still fairly expensive, especially when you start getting into the 30+ inch sizes, but their price tags are dropping. It looks to me that LCD technology in general is going to be a sort of standard in the near future, both with televisions and monitors. For this reason, I suspect that many of the best TVs will in fact be made with LCD technology, even if its not the most state of the art concept we have available to us.

    Then of course there’s the good old CRT TV. These are clearly not the best TVs with respect to the quality of the image, but they work great, are tried and tested, and always very affordable compared to their more advanced cousins. The money you save on going with CRT TV may allow you to get a much larger TV. Sure, it’ll be clunky and a pain in the ass to move, but bigger is better, right?

    After all is said and done, it’s impossible to say what the best TV is. The best TV is the one that meets yours needs better than any other, so it really depends on what your needs are.

    “Currently Satellite TV is superior to cable in a few different ways. First of all their channel selection is enormous. Satellite TV also offers the best picture and sound quality. With all of the features that come with Satellite TV you will never find yourself sitting there with nothing to watch.

    Cable offers a limited bandwidth which is directly to blame for the poor quality of picture and sound. Your cable wire is from a transmission system near your home. Cable is radio frequency based and has been converted from an audio and video signal to radio frequency and then has to re-convert back into audio and video.

    On the other hand satellite signals remain digital until it hits the receiver. This means clearer picture and audio, op to 3 times better resolution than your cable picture quality. The audio from a satellite receiver can be Dolby Digital surround sound if the program is that feature.

    Most satellite companies like Dish Network provide their customers with hundreds of digital stations to choose from. Hundreds of high quality channels, some are offered in high definition. You can opt for a high definition (HD) receiver to go with your HD television.

    Many cable signals are under 150 lines of interlaced resolution while standard satellite can be up to 480i. HD content will either be 1080i or 720 progressive. Standard 27’ TVs have no more than a 500i capability. If you want high definition get a HD TV.

    Modern day HD TVs can accurately scan all the lines of the screen and refresh it much more quickly. Interlaced broadcast were developed in the 1920’s and weren’t able to get the TV to scan every line from the top to the bottom quick enough, so they scanned only odd numbers. Then would go back and scan the even, resulting in thick lines running across the screen.”

    This Is Big. Monster Big. 103 Inch Panasonic Plasma Television

    The new Panasonic 103 inch plasma television is out. The TH-103PZ600U with 1080p capability will have an expected SRP of $69,999.95 and is expected to be available for delivery in time for Christmas 2006. It will also offer a three-year in-home limited warranty, unprecedented in the industry.

    In flat panel displays, plasma has technical advantages over other technologies, including LCD, when it comes to making larger size panels. Nevertheless, there are numerous technical challenges in making plasma panels that are larger than 100 inches measured diagonally while maintaining stable discharge and high picture quality across the entire surface of the panel.

    Panasonic has overcome these technical hurdles by developing a new rib and phosphor for these super large panels. A “rib” divides each gas cell and prevents interference between adjacent cells to produce clear images. The 103-inch 1080p plasma panel, equivalent to four 50-inch panels in size, features consistent and uniform discharge, delivering the same accurate images from the center to every corner of the screen and brightness as the current 50-inch HD model (TH-50PX500). The panel incorporates Panasonic’s 1080p HD high-speed pixel drive. The same high-speed pixel drive is used in the TH-65PX500 65-inch 1080p Plasma TV, which has been well received in Japan since its introduction last November, and the 50-inch 1080p Plasma unveiled at CEATEC JAPAN 2005 in October 2005.

    The TH-103PZ600U provides stunning widescreen progressive display featuring full HD pixel resolution of 1,920 horizontal x 1,080 vertical, a contrast ratio of 4,000:1, and 4,096 equivalent steps of gradation. Its effective display area is more than 89.3” wide by over 50.2” high. The super-size 103” 1080p panel is equivalent in size to four 50-inch Panasonic plasma displays.

    “Until now, the market for 100-plus-inch screens was dominated by front projection TVs. Panasonic now realizes another option in this sector. Our 103-inch 1080p PDP promises high quality images with high brightness, dynamic contrast, high resolution and excellent color reproduction that projection displays cannot match. We believe it will create strong demand as a multipurpose display for business, educational and medical applications as well as home theater use,” said Mr. Nagano, Director, PDP Device Business Unit of Panasonic AVC Networks Company.
